Notification of Wednesday Outings

Members and guests are notified of the date, departure time and destination on the Friday morning immediately prior to the Wednesday outing. The notification is posted by email to members and on the Club Information Line at 8:00 AM. Registration is open until 12 noon on the Sunday before the outing. A $25 bus fee is charged per person per trip, an additional $7 is charged per person per trip for outings to National Parks for those without a Park Pass.

Member Registration

Members receive an email notification that includes a link to Evite, the registration system used by the Club. Members can register themselves, other members and guests. They do so by choosing “Yes” to the invitation, noting the day and time of their registration, and names of the other members or guests that they are also registering. When registering guests, members must indicate whether the guest is a prospective member or a casual guest.

Members without email register by calling the Club’s Information Line: 403-259-0209 to hear a recorded message giving details of the outing. They record a message giving their name, phone number, and time and day of registration.

Members using Calgary Transit must indicate that they require pick up at the Crowfoot LRT Station.

Guest Registration

Guests register by calling the Club’s Information Line: 403-259-0209 to hear a recorded message giving details of the outing and inviting them to register for the outing. They record a message giving their name, phone number, and time and day of registration.

Seat Availability on the Bus

Registrations are on a “first come, first served” basis for the 55 seats on a bus. A second bus is added whenever possible if the number of registrations exceeds 80. Registrations made by phone and Evite are merged into one list according to time of registration.

Seating will be limited if there is insufficient registration for two buses. Seats are assigned based on the day and time of registration in order of priority as follows:

  • Members and prospective-member guests (maximum of 5 per outing)
  • Casual guests, and
  • Walk-ons.

Registration can be cancelled without penalty up until 12 noon on the Sunday before the outing either through Evite or by calling the Club’s Information Line. Anybody who cancels after 12 noon on Sunday must pay a no-show fee equal to the bus fare on their next outing. No-show fees are paid by enclosing cash or cheque in a sealed envelope marked with the amount payable and the date of the missed outing.

Members and guests are notified by phone if there is no space for them on the bus.

On Monday afternoon an email is sent to members and a recorded message is posted on the Club’s Information Line with an update regarding participation and the opportunity for walk-ons at the Pick Up location on the day of the outing.
