CITY WALKS

City walks

City walks are for those who wish walk and socialize with other members without leaving the City. Each Monday we drive or take public transit to the meeting point, walk for one to two hours and then usually go for coffee and return to the meeting point. A broad range of members participate in the walks ranging from those who no longer can or wish to go on a full days outing to the mountains or who may have an injury that temporarily limits their ability to hike on the more challenging terrain in the mountains, to those who just prefer to explore the parks closer to home.

How City Walks are Organized

The City Walkers Director schedules, organizes and registers participants for the City walks.

Walks are scheduled for every Monday except on Statutory Holidays. Members are notified of the location of the next Monday’s walk by Email and on the Club’s phone hot line each Friday morning. Members are not required to preregister for City Walks since there is no restriction on the number who can attend; attendance is recorded on a sign-up sheet at the start of the walk.

Walks begin at 10:00 AM.

All Monday walks are accessible either by public transit for those who do not drive or prefer to use transit, or by personal transport.

Where We Walk

Calgary offers a wide variety of excellent walking trails. Outdoor walks are scheduled in Bowness Park, Bow River Valley Trails, Fish Creek Park, Confederation Park, Edworthy Park, Glenmore Reservoir, Nose Hill Park, Nose Creek, Weasel Head Park, Carburn Park and various other locations. Indoor walks are scheduled when the weather is inclement to Chinook Mall or Market Mall or the Plus 15 system.
